I’m finally finishing my recent Singapore series, and I’m finishing with my favourite. Singapore is known as “The Garden City”, and it’s easy to see why. It’s full of green spaces and discovering them is an absolute joy. As an avid gardener, I knew that my recent trip had to focus on seeing all the incredible green spaces on offer, and I wasn’t disappointed.
In fact, they were just so beautiful, and made me such a Happy Hannah, that I had to write a post on my top 10 favourites!
- National Orchid Garden
- Singapore Botanic Gardens
- Jurong Lake Gardens
- Green Heart at Marina One
- Sky Garden at Capita Spring
- Sang Nila Utama Garden
- Raffles Garden
- Gardens by the Bay: Indoor Gardens (Cloud Forest & Flower Dome)
- Gardens by the Bay: Outdoor Gardens
- Hort Park
- Bonus: Jewel

National Orchid Garden
Cost: $15
The orchid has been the emblem of Singapore for almost 50 years now, and no-one does orchids better than this city. The National Orchid garden is a tribute to these wonderful flowers, and it’s situated within the larger Botanic Gardens (see below). It’s by far my favourite garden in Singapore.

Singapore Botanic Gardens

Cost: Free
The Singapore Botanic Gardens are vast, and offer much more beyond the paid National Orchid Garden. There’s far too much to cover in one paragraph but there’s everything from waterfalls, to lakes, to formal gardens, herb gardens, arboretums and so much more.

Jurong Lake Gardens
You can read my full guide to the Jurong Lake Gardens: HERE
Cost: Free
One of my absolute favourite hidden gems is the stunning Jurong Lake Gardens, home to a Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden and Lakeside Garden. The Chinese Garden is home to a six storied pagoda, and 2 smaller pagodas right on the water’s edge, plus there are water lily ponds galore and even bonsai trees. It’s beautiful!

Green Heart at Marina One
Cost: Free
An urban garden, set in the middle of residential flats, is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Stroll the walkways and take in the indoor waterfall; a perfect urban oasis. This spot is still relatively off the beaten track, so visit whilst you can!

Sky Garden at Capita Spring
Cost: Free, but advance reservation required via the website.
One of Singapore’s newest attractions is the stunning Sky Garden at Capita Springs, serving some of the best views in town, and home to a number of eateries. Again it’s in a residential complex, and is closed during certain times of the day for residents only. I recommend visiting when it opens at 8.30am to have it to yourself!

Sang Nila Utama Garden
Cost: Free
Set within Fort Canning Park, the Sang Nila Utama Garden is just stunning, like something out of Tomb Raider! The garden is in honour of the Srivijayan prince who discovered Singapore back in the late 1200s, and it feels like being transported back in time to the ancient temples of South East Asia.

Raffles Garden
Cost: Free
Also located in Fort Canning Park is Raffles Garden, a reflection of Sir Stamford Raffles who landed in Singapore and was the founder of Britain’s Colonial era in the city. He was a keen Botanist, and did a lot to understand the species around him in the tropics. This garden is a collection of flora and fauna he studied.

Gardens by the Bay: Indoor Gardens (Cloud Forest & Flower Dome)
You can read my full guide to Gardens by the Bay: HERE
Cost: Up to $32
Gardens by the Bay have recently been voted the 8th best tourist attraction in the world, and it’s easy to see why! The Cloud Dome is home to one of the world’s tallest indoor waterfalls, and it’s truly spectacular to see and then climb up inside. The Flower Dome houses themed floral displays – on my last visit in the spring it was “Tulip Mania”. These gardens are a must see for any first time visitor to Singapore.

Gardens by the Bay: Outdoor Gardens
You can read my full guide to Gardens by the Bay: HERE
Cost: Free
Gardens by the Bay isn’t just the two famous domes, it also houses a number of outdoor gardens and lakes, themed and providing lovely views our across Singapore. My favourite is from Dragonfly island boardwalk to Marina Bay Sands hotel, as well as the famous Supertree Grove made up of numerous futuristic “trees”.

Hort Park
You can read my full guide to The Southern Ridges & Mount Faber: HERE
Cost: Free
Hort Park is another off the beaten track destination, perfect for combining with the nearby Canopy Walk, Henderson Waves or Mount Faber Peak. It’s one of the growing gardens for Gardens by the Bay, but has lots to explore in its own right, including some beautifully laid out mini gardens and a perfectly landscaped main lawn.

Bonus: Jewel
You can read my full guide to Singapore Changi Airport: HERE
Cost: Free
Whilst Jewel isn’t technically a garden like the others on this list, it’s surrounded by beautiful greenery and walkways and is not to be missed as you head back to the airport for your onward flight. It’s situated just outside Terminal 1 and is land side (i.e. visit before you go through immigration). It’s the perfect end to a visit to the “Garden City”.

What do you think of all these gardens? Have you been to any of them yourself, or would you like to visit any of them? I hope you enjoyed my tour and if you’re planning a trip to Singapore, enjoy the garden city!! Stay safe and happy travelling.
