On both of my trips to Delhi this year, I’ve stayed in a lovely hotel just outside of the main city centre in Gurgaon. It’s easy to see why The Oberoi, Gurgaon is often rated as one of the best places to stay in the Delhi-NCR region. Its highlights for me are the service, spa and food, all at a very reasonable price point for a 5* hotel.
Location of the The Oberoi, Gurgaon
Located right off the Gurgaon-Delhi highway, The Oberoi is ideally placed for both business and leisure. It’s close to major corporate offices, upscale malls, and fine dining areas, yet feels removed from the traffic and frenetic pace you might expect of a city of nearly 35 million people.
It’s a short 30 minute drive from the international airport (well, unless the Delhi traffic is chaos, in which case it’s 1hr+), and close to the sites in Southern Delhi, such as Mehrauli Archaeological Park (first on my list for my next visit). The hotel organises airport pick up/drop off and tours to Mehrauli are available at a cost.
From the hotel, it’s around a 45 minute drive in to the centre of Delhi. I really wanted to explore Delhi on my visits, but had very limited free time around work so only managed to visit Humayun’s Tomb.
The hotel also has a sister property in Agra, meaning it’s perfect to combine a stay here with a stay there to go and see the Taj Mahal. I visited the Taj as a day trip (3-4 hours drive from The Oberoi Gurgaon), and it was still amazing, but a stay in Agra would have been even more special.

Accommodation at The Oberoi, Gurgaon
The rooms are really lovely; spacious, clean, and bathed in natural light – the perfect balance between comfort and luxury. The décor is modern with soft neutral tones, rich wood accents, and thoughtful details that make you feel calm.
The bedroom area was home to a big and comfortable bed; plush linens and pillows that make it nearly impossible to get up in the morning (not ideal when you need to work). There’s even a pillow menu if you want to choose from some options!
The room was also home to a sofa area, large desk perfect for working, and then a separate walk in wardrobe area with lots of storage. The room also had a safe, and the customary slippers were laid out during evening turndown service.
The bathroom was home to a deep soaking tub, double sink, rain shower and some very nice smelling toiletries. It was heavenly after a long day at work out in the chaos of Delhi to relax with a nice bath and my book.
The hotel also provides a lot for you so you don’t have to pack, including:
- An iron and ironing board
- A hairdryer
- Deodorant and talcum powder
- Nail clippers and emery board
- Dental kits including toothbrush and toothpaste
- Shower caps
- Essentials kit including lip balm, moisturiser etc
- In the shower, bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are topped up daily. In the bath, bubble bath and a loofah is provided.
The rooms also have beautiful views, with many facing on to the main central water pool of the hotel (this is not the swimming pool!), or facing the swimming pool itself. Either way it’s pretty lovely to wake up to.
Food & Drink at The Oberoi, Gurgaon
One of the biggest strengths of the hotel is its food. The hotel doesn’t rely on a single signature restaurant; instead it has a few really amazing options, all of which offer something a bit different.
- Threesixtyone: The all-day dining restaurant offers an extensive spread that caters across a wide range of cuisines. At breakfast there’s a huge buffest serving Western and Indian options – plus an A La Carte menu. At lunch and dinner, you can take your pick from a huge variety; all the food I’ve eaten here is delicious, with a particular shoutout to the chicken kathi roll. Drooooool.
- Ziya: A modern Indian restaurant open for dinner that reimagines traditional flavors in creative and delicious ways. Every dish we tried was tasty, and beautifully plated.
- The Bar: Stylish and refined, with a great selection of cocktails and spirits, perfect for an evening unwind.
- Madam Chow: A Chinese restaurant, serving a mix of everything from dim sum, to roast duck and lots of noodle dishes. I surprisingly fell in love with the spicy fried lotus root!
- Room Service: A huge room service menu is available, with a good selection of 24hr options, and a wider range available until 10.30pm.
Service in all outlets was attentive without being intrusive; staff knew the menu inside out and offered recommendations that felt genuine and personal. The food is definitely a highlight of the stay! Eat everything you can!
Amenities & Experiences at The Oberoi, Gurgaon
Well, let me start with the star of the show. The Oberoi Spa is serene and luxurious, offering a menu of treatments that combine traditional techniques with modern wellness trends. A massage here felt like hitting the reset button – I actually had 2 massages in 4 days on my first visit to get all the knots out of my neck, and another 2 back massages on my most recent visit as well!
I have to say that my amazing experience is due to Monisha, who worked absolute magic on me and is undoubtedly the best masseuse I have ever had the pleasure of receiving a massage from. Even better the spa is open 24/7, so I was able to get a massage at 11pm after a busy day of work and then socialising.
The hotel is also home to an outdoor pool, which is stylish and peaceful, surrounded by greenery; a great place to refresh. It’s actually a 50m pool so really good for swimming, and I never saw anyone in it (apart from us)! Towels are provided in baskets at the foot of each lounger. An attendant brings out water, fruit and sun-cream on arrival but there is no way to order drinks so take some mini-bar drinks from your room with you to stay hydrated if you’re staying for more than an hour! There is no lifeguard on duty, but there are emergency rings at the side of the pool so be careful if visiting with young children.
There is also a fitness center which is well-equipped with modern machines and plenty of space. In a surprise to no-one, I didn’t go in, but all 3 of my colleagues did and said it was great. The hotel also offers free high speed WIFI, 24-hour concierge, Butler service, and Laundry.
So there you have it. The Oberoi, Gurgaon is really great option when staying in Delhi – whether for business, celebrating a special occasion, or simply want a luxurious city escape.
